What Is the IB Grading Scale?
The International Baccalaureate uses a grade system of 45 to assess their students. To receive the diploma, a student must acquire a minimum of 24 points and meet the minimal requirements for the program’s core. In ib biology class, students take six topics, with each class counting seven points toward the overall grade. So the total number of points you can gain from your classes is 42, with the remaining three points coming from the core described previously.
The IB grades students based on a combination of school-based internal submissions such as research papers (IA) and several external examinations, with the number of exams per topic varying depending on whether the student opted for an HL or SL version of the class. If you do not submit your IA, you will be ineligible to earn the diploma immediately. Each test consists of at least two papers per subject, but generally contains more.
