If you have questions please do not hesitate to call Poli Glow at 800-922-5013.
Dilute three parts water to one part Poli Prep, you may add a few ounces of bleach for severe mold or mildew. Wet area with water, then apply Poli Prep with a trigger sprayer or mix in bucket. You may use the scrub pad and handle or a brush for large areas.
- Do not use rubbing or polishing compound to clean boat.
- Please use Poli Prep.
- Poli Prep is a concentrate cleaner (wear rubber gloves.)
- Do not use full strength.
Treat Poli Prep like soap, scrub area and rinse with clean water. Oxidation and stains must be removed (Poli Glow will seal in any stains on surface, i.e. shiny stains.)
All dark colors have to be uniform with no light variations. Dark colored areas sometimes get a sunburned film or bleached layer over them, this needs to be removed. If the Poli Prep method does not remove enough oxidation, use Poli Ox (stain and heavy oxidation remover) or a 3M Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine Pad. Rub until there is a uniform color.
The surface does not need to be shiny for the application of Poli Glow; just clean and UNIFORM in color. Let dry for one hour before applying Poli Glow.
POLI PREP MAY STREAK OR REMOVE BOTTOM PAINT. POLI PREP WILL NOT HARM VINYL GRAPHICS.
Dampen Poli-Mitt applicator with fresh water, wring out, wrap in towel and wring out remaining moisture.
During application Poli-Mitt applicator may have to be rinsed out from time-to-time. Repeat initial process and resume application.
Poli-Mitt applicator should be damp not wet. Always wear a vinyl or plastic disposable glove under Poli-Mitt applicator. (For additional instructions please see back of Poli-Mitt applicator card.)
Instead, apply Poli Glow like a varnish. It should be applied to the surface gently. Do not push down on Poli-Mitt applicator. This may cause foam or bubbles which may dry rough. Do not stop Poli-Mitt applicator; instead pull away from surface gradually. If drips occur, remove them with the Poli-Mitt applicator before they dry. Avoid windy conditions.
Now it’s time apply Poli Glow, this is the easy part. Drizzle several lines of Poli Glow onto palm of Poli-Mitt applicator.
- Mitt should be moist, not dripping wet.
- Apply Poli Glow by wiping in one direction, top to bottom or side to side. Do not wipe in circular motion.
- Do a 4’ X 6’ area at a time.
Each coat dries in approximately 1-2 minutes depending on the temperature (minimum temperature for application is 55°F). Apply a minimum of 4 to 6 coats and move on to the next section.
If you go over Poli Glow before it is dry, you will get streaking or brush marks. If this occurs, lightly sand streaks with Scotch-Brite Ultra Fine Pad, wipe clean, and add 2 more coats of Poli Glow. The first 2 or 3 coats of Poli Glow may appear dull or streaky due to penetration into the fiberglass.
Poli Glow may be applied in direct sunlight except on dark colors. Avoid contact with rain or water for several hours. If water spots occur they will disappear after a few hours in the sunlight. Poli Glow is safe to apply over vinyl lettering or graphics.
All graphics must be applied to surface before applying Poli Glow.
To maintain a shine reapply 2 to 3 coats of Poli Glow every 12 months. In tropical areas, reapply Poli Glow every 6 to 8 months.
If scratches or wear spots occur, the can be touched up by applying a few coats of Poli Glow. Maintenance is easy, as dirt and grime will not adhere to Poli Glow finish. Avoid contact with Ammonia based products, degreasers, teak or hull cleaners, and abrasive cleaners.
Clean area with soap and water. If you have stains that have penetrated Poli Glow or blotchy areas, you can use Poli Ox to clean the area.
If Poli Glow has started to break down and started to come off, you may have to remove Poli Glow with Poli Strip (see directions Removal of Poli Glow.) Reapply 2 to 3 coats of Poli Glow to area to restore shine.
Use Poli Strip Aerosol or Poli Strip Liquid Concentrate. Always wear a vinyl of plastic disposable glove.
Mix Poli Strip Liquid Concentrate 2 parts water to 1 part concentrate into a spray bottle or pump up sprayer.
Spray Poli Strip on a small 4 X 5 square foot area. Move around with a scrub pad and rinse with clean water. If you allow Poli Strip to dry on surface before rinsing off, Poli Glow will re-harden.
You will then need to reapply Poli Strip and follow the above instructions. Poli Prep will also remove Poli Glow, we’ve formulated Poli Strip to remove Poli Glow easier and faster.
